This past winter, we took our salon team to the arcade for a team photoshoot—and let’s be honest, I wasn’t just there to smile for the camera. I love a good vibe-y photo moment, sure. But give me a little competition? I’m in. ✨
I ended up in a game of Connect Four—one of those games that feels light and simple, until you realize it’s actually all about strategy, foresight, and timing. (Kind of like leadership.)
And as I sat there, trying to outsmart my opponent while dodging distractions and laughter in the background, it hit me—this game was giving me a major metaphor for the season I’ve been walking through.
Because here’s the thing: growth is beautiful, but it’s not always glamorous. It doesn’t just bring wins and celebrations—it brings stretching. It brings tension. It brings moments where you start making moves that feel more like reaction than intention.
And if you’re not careful, those moments start to stack up.
You start saying yes to things that don’t align.
You shift your strategy to avoid discomfort.
You make decisions to keep people happy, rather than staying rooted in your why.
Sound familiar?
It did for me. Somewhere along the way, I realized I had placed a few too many pieces just to keep up with the pace of everything. And just like in Connect Four, that strategy might work for a minute… but it won’t lead to a win.
Here’s the reminder I needed—and maybe you do too:
It’s not just a pretty phrase—it’s the filter every decision should go through.
Every time you say yes to something that doesn’t align, you’re saying no to something that could have moved you forward. Every reactive move you make pulls you just a little farther away from the clarity and peace that comes with being in alignment.
So what do you do when you realize you’ve drifted?
You pause.
You get quiet.
You return to your vision.
Here’s a simple practice I’ve been using lately:
Once a week, ask yourself:
What felt aligned this week?
Where did I notice myself people-pleasing or reacting?
What’s one small thing I can do next week that aligns with my purpose—even if it’s uncomfortable?
Write it down. Reflect. Adjust. This isn’t about perfection—it’s about getting back into integrity with yourself.
Whether you’re leading a team, building a business, or just trying to stay grounded in a fast-moving world, I hope this gives you a little space to breathe and realign.
Stay rooted. Stay focused. Every move matters. 🤎
If this resonated with you, drop a ⭐ in the comments and let me know what your North Star is guiding you toward right now.
